Free PDF + editable BoboCreate template
Customize Sentence Repair Detective Activities
Try six grammar cases and the Detective's Toolkit. Students find the evidence, rule out revision choices clue by clue, and then repair a new sentence on their own.
Both downloads are the free edition. The editable file opens in BoboCreate Desktop.
48 independent grammar and punctuation cases for grades 3–5 at three levels: find the evidence, rule out choices clue by clue, repair and name the rule
The editable version keeps directions, evidence and response areas as native BoboCreate elements, so you can adjust names, numbers or wording before printing.
What the free template includes
- The Detective's Toolkit page: the marks, the four-step routine and practice examples
- 6 cases across all three levels: capital letters, list commas, a run-on, I or me, combining sentences, and a run-on with a fragment
- 3 worked answer pages with the reasoning, a common misconception and the transfer answer for each case
Model the routine once
Read the toolkit page together, then model one case aloud: underline the evidence, name the rule, cross out each choice as a clue rules it out, and check the choice that is left.
Each case ends with a Try It sentence that needs the same rule, with no choices or clues. Use it as a quick check.
Edit, then print at Actual Size
In BoboCreate you can edit the text and layout, such as names or sentences, before you export a PDF. If you change a case, check that its clues and answer page still match.
Print on US Letter paper at Actual Size (100%) so the marks and the Out lines stay clear. Keep the answer pages for the adult.
