How to Customize and Print a Mystery Fashion Party Kit and Invitation

The free Mystery Fashion Party Starter is a seven-page printable reveal game for ages 4–8, and its editable .bobo opens in BoboCreate, a desktop design app for Mac and Windows. This guide covers the making side: editing the words, printing at the right size, sealing and pre-cutting, and a matching 5×7 invitation. The starter’s own Host Guide explains how to run the game.

Both downloads are the free edition. The editable file opens in BoboCreate Desktop.

The editable file imports in BoboCreate Free 0.3.19 or later. It uses one of Free's three design places, and its own artwork does not count toward your three uploaded images. Older versions of the app need BoboCreate activated to import it, so update BoboCreate first.

You’ll need BoboCreate, a color printer that takes card stock, card stock, scissors (a paper trimmer helps), tape and a ruler.

Every word in the starter is a live text box, so you can rename a reveal, an award or the footer before you print.

Edit the reveal card labels

Click or double-click a label to type. Non-readers match each top, shoe and accessory card to its piece by the picture, so the word must still describe the drawing: “Star Sweater” can become “Cozy Star Sweater”, not “Space Suit”.

Change both copies of a piece name: each one is also printed small in its box on the Style Shelf Pieces page.
Keep Round 1 color pairs honest: rename Lemonade if you like, but keep “yellow + pink”.
Leave the round band words (Colors, Top, Shoes, Accessory, Sparkle) alone, or change them on the My Mystery Look sheet too.
If a label wraps, shorten the words rather than shrinking the type.
Keep Sparkle twists drawable: dots, plus signs, arcs, circles and lines a four-year-old can make.

Edit the award titles

Each of the eight awards has a title, a reason line and the footer “Mystery Fashion Reveal”. Put the birthday child’s name in the footer and check it still fits on one line, or retitle an award for your crowd. Keep every title about an idea, a choice, courage or kindness, never appearance.

Export and print at 100%

Export a vector PDF and print at 100% (actual size), not “fit to page”. Every outfit piece is drawn to fit one shared model outline, and each card’s fold is placed to cover its picture exactly; scaling breaks both. Use card stock (about 65 lb or heavier) for the reveal cards, models and pieces, because bold print shows faintly through copy paper. Test-print one Models page and one piece sheet first and glue a top, shoes and a hat on a model.

Fold and seal the reveal cards

Cut on the solid lines: the cards share straight cuts, four across and two down per page. Fold on the dashed line so the picture hides and the round band shows, crease it with a ruler, and seal each card with one small piece of tape in the same spot so every card in a cup looks alike. Hold one sealed card to a window; if you can see the picture, switch to heavier card stock.

Pre-cut for ages 4–5

For guests aged 4–5, an adult cuts everything ahead of time. Cut each piece on its smooth gray trim line, about ⅛ inch outside the drawing, cut the Models page into its three strips, and sort the pieces onto a tray as tops, shoes and accessories. For ages 6–8, just cut the boxes apart and let guests trim their own.

Add a matching invitation

The Mystery Fashion Reveal and Secret Style Studio invitations match the starter. Personalize one in the Bobotemp editor online, or import a purchased template into BoboCreate, and keep each field within its limit (spaces and punctuation count). In BoboCreate, export a PDF with two 5×7 copies per Letter sheet and crop marks, then print at 100% on card stock.
